Yoshi Hayata
Originally
from Hiroshima, Japan, YOSHI HAYATA is a multifaceted
composer/arranger who writes in styles ranging from jazz and
classical, to pop and rock, as well as film music.
He came to the United
States in 1999 to study composition and arranging at Berklee College
of Music, Boston, MA. Yoshi earned a professional diploma in
Contemporary Writing and Production and was also a recipient of
Berklee Achievement Scholarship and Contemporary Writing and
Production Achievement Award. From 2003-2005, Yoshi attended
the University of Miami, FL and earned a Master's degree in
Studio/Jazz Writing. While
at UM Yoshi’s teachers included Gary Lindsay, Raul Murciano and Ron
Miller.
Mr. Hayata's
works have been performed by numerous ensembles including the
Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Florida Southwest Symphony, Florida
International University Latin Ensemble, University of Miami Concert
and Studio Jazz Bands, University of Miami Symphony, and the
University of Miami Jazz Vocal I Ensemble. In 2005, he was
awarded two Downbeat Jazz Awards for "Outstanding Jazz Arrangement"
and "Best Studio Engineer." Yoshi is currently arranging and
orchestrating for Latin-Grammy award winner Nestor Torres.
