Originally
from South Salem, NY, TED SHEIBAR has been involved with music
since the age of 9, when he received his first saxophone. Ted
attended John Jay High School where he was awarded the Louis
Armstrong Jazz Award for excellence in music. He earned a perfect
score of 5 on the Advanced Placement Music Theory Exam, and
received a $500 scholarship to pursue a career in music.
From 1998-2002, Ted
attended the University of Miami as a Studio Music and Jazz major
in saxophone performance. Along with performing in venues across
Miami, Ted composed and arranged for various bands at the
University.
After receiving a Bachelor's degree, he focused his
musical career on composing, and attended the highly selective
Studio/Jazz Writing program at Miami, receiving a Master of Music
degree in May 2004.
Ted now resides in
North Hollywood, CA to pursue a career in film scoring. Accolades
include the 2004 Down Beat Student Music Award for Outstanding
Original Song "Fresh Start", 2002 Down Beat Award for Outstanding
Performance in a Jazz Instrumental Group and was featured as an
"Emerging Artist" on Miami's WVUM 90.5 FM radio show "Jazz in the
Present Tense."
