Paul Sorensen
PAUL
SORENSEN is an accomplished composer/arranger, saxophonist, and
pianist residing in Washington state. He was most recently
commissioned to arrange for the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra's annual
Pops Concert and is the Musical Director for the Wind Machine Big
Band.
As a performer Paul has
worked with Sy Zenter, Johhny Mathis, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson,
Mel Torme, Louie Bellson, Claude Gordon, and others. He has
worked in the entertainment/recording industry as a sideman and
musical director in various productions including the television
shows Shindig and Hulabaloo. Paul has
additionally been a saxophone soloist with both the Everett Symphony
and Roadkill Jazz Orchestra.
Mr. Sorensen is also
active in music education having studied privately with Dick Grove,
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Dante Varela, William Calkens and
graduated from the U.S. Naval School of Music. He attended
both the San Fernando Valley State College and LA Conservatory of
Music in California before earning B.M. and M.M. degrees from
Western Washington University. He has taught at Whatcom
Community College, Northwest Freedom University, Western Washington
University, and numerous private academies of music.
Paul has been a member
of ASCAP since 1969 and is available for clinics, commissions,
residencies, etc.
