David von Kampen
DAVID
VON KAMPEN
(b. 1986) is a masters student in music composition and a Graduate
Teaching Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has
studied composition with Randall Snyder and Eric Richards.
David is a three-time winner of the Vancouver Chamber Choir Young
Composers Competition, a 2008 ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Competition
Finalist, and was awarded the Vreeland Award for "exceptional
creative ability" by the UNL School of Music in 2007. He is active
as a musical theatre accompanist and jazz pianist throughout
southeast Nebraska.
David's compositions and arrangements have been performed by the
Vancouver Chamber Choir, Sacramento State University's Vocal Jazz
Ensemble C-SUS, the Concordia University A Cappella Choir,
PianoFOURte, Rocktavo, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Jazz
Ensembles I and II, University Singers, Varsity Men's Chorus,
Chamber Singers, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, and Saxophone
Choir.
David's choral and instrumental music is published by Concordia
Publishing House, RYCUN Music Company and Dorn Publications. He has
written commissions for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the
Vancouver Chamber Choir, Eden United Church of Christ (Chicago), and
others. David's incidental music and songs have appeared in UNL
productions of "As You Like It" (2008) and "Bloody Poetry" (2010) at
the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.
David is a member of ASCAP and the American Choral Directors
Association. He lives in Lincoln with his wife, Mollie.
